TouchScreen display for controlling Bell-Mark variable data printers

Pine Brook, NJ - Bell-Mark Corporation announces Large TouchScreen display for use with the companies line of variable data printers such as the EasyPrint Thermal Transfer printers & coders.

The Bell-Mark TouchScreen is an easy to use touch display that will greatly minimize the risk of operator error by allowing on-screen icons to recall components of a label. The interface utilizes a large 17" touchscreen and Bell-Mark's own custom software, Touch -n- Print and Scan -n- Print. Each version of the software allows for greater security because label design software, such as the companies VersaStyle, is installed in a separate PC. The TouchScreen acts as a controller that selects portions of commonly used labels through a network connection, and sends them directly to any number of printers in-line.

"Our TouchScreen is unique in that it simplifies label creation to basic point, click and print actions," says Glenn C. Breslauer, Bell-Mark's Director of Marketing / IT. "Think of your word processing program and it's mail merge feature. That is what we have done with label design. Our engineers have taken complex actions and created simple operations for compiling labels from components in a database," adds Breslauer.

Custom Applications are key
The TouchScreen utilizes applications that are custom designed by Bell-Mark for specific requirements. The Touch -n- Print application uses icons that represent label components. Meat / Poultry / Prepared Foods customers typically choose this application for input. The Scan -n- Print application utilizes a hand scanner to read bar codes which input the data. This setup is often preferred by Medical Device / Pharmaceutical customers. Because each application prevents the operator from changing a label in the design program, the risk of error is greatly reduced. The custom program is written according to the customers familiar jargon/terminology, which allows the printing system to adapt to the customer, so the customer doesn't have to adapt to the printer.
